What is Literacy and Basic Skills?
The Adult Literacy and Basic Skills (LBS) program helps learners prepare to:
- Complete secondary school
- Go to college or university
- Enter the workforce
- Get an apprenticeship
- Have greater personal independence
- 18 years of age or older (certain exceptions apply)
- Canadian citizenship, permanent residents, convention refugees or refugee claimants
We offer continuous enrollment and CLASSES ARE FREE

How to Register
1. Complete our online application form, including indentification and a copy of your transcript. After you submit these documents, you'll receive a call or email explaining your next steps in the application process.
2. Meet with Guidance. Meet with guidance counselor to complete your Credit Counseling Summary.
3. Proceed to LBS+. Receive academic support through the LBS program as you complete Jr PLAR assessments.
4. Complete your Sr PLAR. Continue course work in night, at SWAC (School within a College) or through ILC (Independent Learning) to complete any required senior credits.
5. Graduate

Class Times
Classes are offered on a full or part time schedule. The student timetable is based on site location, course/level availability and scheduling.

- Mornings - 9:00 am to 11:30 am (5 days per week)(Windsor Only)
- Afternoons - 12:15 pm to 2:45 pm (5 days per week)
- Nights - 6:45 pm to 9:15 pm (2 nights per week, Monday & Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday - virtual format) Learners must complete any assessments or tests in person.
