School history
East Mersea Public School first opened its doors when township schools were established to service rural community on the eastern side of Mersea Township near Wheatley. The old school house along Highway 3 was torn down in the late sixties and a new brick structure was erected on the Watson Sideroad in 1966 just north of the old site. Currently over 250 students from JK to Grade 8 receive elementary education at East Mearsea.
