The new K-12 school on Jasperson Drive in Kingsville that will serve students and families across the south shore of Essex County will be known as Erie Migration Academy.
It opens in September, 2024 for 1045 elementary and 753 secondary students. It’s cost is approximately $60 million.
Students from the communities of Kingsville, Colchester, Harrow, Leamington and Pelee Island will make up the new school community. Lake Erie is the predominant feature that connects all the municipalities.
Migration is a word significant to the region. Along with Erie, it was a popular suggestion among the more than 600 names submitted in a public survey. The Mississippi and Atlantic flyways intersect over the area for both the spring and fall migrations.
