The Student of the Month for November is Ryann Vinuya, a Grade 12 student at Tecumseh Vista Academy. Ryann is an outstanding role model for this month’s theme of “inclusivity”.
At Tecumseh Vista, every student is unique in their own way, and Ryann makes a conscious effort to make students feel welcome and included. Time and time again, Ryann demonstrates that regardless of one’s identity and differences, everyone’s voice and opinions matter.
This year, as a leader in the Art Club, Ryann provides an outlet for students to speak their minds and have their voices heard. Ryann has focused their artistic lens on social issues and mentors students by providing thoughtful feedback to guide their work.
When asked about their impact on the Arts at Tecumseh Vista, one of their peers answered, "They are an amazing friend who always put others before themself, even if they don't know them at all. [Ryann] is one of the leaders in art club who always tries to include everyone in the conversation and make everyone's ideas heard".
Ryann's involvement in Tecumseh Vista’s GSA has created a safe space within the school. They have been a great help with Pride month by organizing a bake sale that raised hundreds of dollars for Rainbow Railroad, a not-for-profit organization that helps LGBTQIA+ people get to safety worldwide.
Ryann’s efforts shine as a beacon for inclusivity every single day. They aim to make high school a fun experience and they are always looking to include students in activities to ensure everyone feels welcome.
Congratulations Ryann for being selected by Student Senate as November’s Student of the Month for the theme of “inclusivity”.
