The Student of the Month for October is Melina Zsargo, a Grade 12 student at Tecumseh Vista Academy. Melina is a role model for this month’s theme of “reliability”.
As a high school senior juggling a full course load along with her extracurricular activities, Melina is one of the most reliable students one may ever encounter. She is a member of Tecumseh Vista's girls' basketball, soccer, and softball teams and her teammates refer to her as the "team mom". She comes prepared with extra band-aids, sports tape and water, and always asks her teammates if they are set for their game or practice. Melina is incredibly selfless and is always thinking two steps ahead for herself and for others. She always offers a ride to her teammates to make sure they don't miss out on an opportunity to play the game they love.
Melina’s teachers admire her work ethic. They appreciate that she gets assignments and projects done ahead of time and is always ready to help a classmate who may be struggling. Teachers describe her as their "go-to student" when they need a favour or an extra set of hands. She is a positive, confidence-boosting teammate and classmate who is happy to help no matter how busy she may be. Melina is someone everyone can rely on.
Congratulations Melina on being selected by Student Senate as the October Student of the Month!
