The Student of the Month for September is Amy Robins, a Gr. 12 student at Vincent Massey Secondary School. Amy is an outstanding role model for this month’s theme of “dedication”.
Amy has shown dedication to her studies, extracurricular activities and community.
Her dedication at school has earned her a high academic standing in all her years at Massey.
As a Level 10 gymnast, Amy trains five hours a day, five days a week. Her dedication to gymnastics has led to notable achievements including a bronze medal in bars at the 2022 Canadian National Championships representing Team Ontario. Amy received the Windsor Essex Sports Person of the Year award for Gymnastics in 2023. Amy’s resilience is most evident in her response to a significant challenge she faced this summer- a torn patellar tendon in her right knee. Amy required surgery followed by a recovery period that has significantly affected her training. Despite this obstacle, her spirit remains strong and she is dedicated to her post-op recovery.
In the community, Amy serves as the Chapter Mental Health Chair for the B’nai B’rith Youth Organization, planning and leading events for teenagers across North America. She is also involved with Sending Sunshine, a Canadian charity that creates handwritten cards for seniors. Amy volunteered over 50 hours last year alone creating cheerful letters and cards. She also finds time to work as a legal support student a local law firm organizing case files, despite her busy schedule.
Amy’s dedication to her studies, extracurriculars and community has led to these remarkable achievements. She is passionate, unyielding, and hardworking.
Congratulations Amy on being selected by Student Senate as the September Student of the Month for “dedication”!
