The Student of the Month for March is Elise Holbrook, a Grade 11 student at Walkerville Collegiate Institute. Elise is an ideal student to represent this month’s theme of “creativity”.
Elise has so many talents and imaginative ideas that she has shared with the world. A student at the Walkerville Centre for the Creative Arts, Elise studies drama, vocal, piano, and visual art.
Some of Elise’s first musical inspirations were Elton John, David Bowie and the music of Wicked and Hamilton. Elise was cast in the play Frogs as a leading lady and is currently playing Mistress Quince in Walkerville’s production of A Midsummer’s Night Dream.
Elise is a self-taught composer and wrote a musical called Red. At age 9 years old Elise began writing the songs, started the orchestral pieces at age twelve and finished the project at 15 years old. The musical was set to debut in the summer of 2020, but unfortunately the pandemic got in the way.
Currently, Elise is in Grade 10 piano at Sonata Piano Studio where she also teaches lessons. Elise has been playing piano since age four years and has been taking vocal lessons for 10 years.
Elise been in abridged operas including The Turn of the Screw as Miles and Brundibar as Katze. Elise has also been in several shows with Leamington’s Little Tomatoes Children’s Theatre and also designed the group’s logo.
Congratulations Elise on being selected by Student Senate as the Student of the Month for March!
