The Greater Essex County District School Board's (GECDSB) secondary school students play organized, inter-school sports within the Windsor Essex County Secondary Schools' Athletic Association (WECSSAA).
WECSSAA is made up of many schools and educational institutions from diverse communities, backgrounds and religions. The purpose of WECSSAA is to:
- Provide education through athletics
- Provide a friendly relationship between member schools
- Promote a love of amateur sport and respect for fellow competitors, coaches, officials and spectators
- Encourage and strive to ensure safe and suitable playing facilities
- Promote fairness of play by governing the number of competitions within a season, establish seasons of play, enforce transfer eligibility and eliminate recruiting of athletes
- Be mindful of the financial and personal limitations of the member schools
- Educate student athletes, coaches, spectators, convenors and administrators to follow and respect the WECSSAA Code of Conduct
- Emphasize that there is a commitment for teams and student athletes to fulfill the obligation to complete all requirements involved in league play
- Provide services such as playing regulations, Code of Behaviour, championship calendar, and more to participants, teachers, coaches and administrators to conduct and enhance school sport

WECSSAA Constitution
WECSSAA encourages communication and harmony between its members and uses athletics as a medium to promote fitness, enjoyment and education. The organization bases competition on the principles of fair play, equity, integrity and respect, which provide an ethical framework for competition and allow participants to get the most out of the game and focus on achievement rather than winning.
